Glow­ing gas and starlight with dark bands of inter­stel­lar dust cre­ate a cos­mic let­ter Z in this image from NASA’s Hub­ble Space Tele­scope. NGC 1300 is con­sid­ered the typ­i­cal barred spi­ral galaxy.
